After a few weeks off the smoothie bandwagon, I decided it was time to dust off my friend the Ninja.
TIP: Always put your liquid in the blender before your fruit.
Then I added some of a fantastic frozen fruit blend I bought from Trader Joe’s. It contained mango, strawberries and blueberries. You can get great bags of frozen fruit at TJs but also Sam’s Club.
I throw the frozen fruit in a bowl and zap it in the microwave for about a minute, just to soften it up, but not entirely defrost.
I really love frozen fruits. They are picked and frozen right at their ripest so they always taste delicious. Be careful to not let the bag sit open in your freezer too long-freezer burn is the worst!
The key to a great smoothie is not only flavor but ratio.
- One and a half cups of juice
- Two cups frozen fruit blend
- One banana
This made enough for a full tall glass for me, and a small cocktail glass full for the hubs.
