Breaking Fast in St. Louis, with New York

Yom Kippur.

The day of atonement.

Where Jews everywhere fast, ask for forgiveness, forgive others, and wait for the euphoric moment when the warm bagel, covered in cream cheese and lox hits your lips at sundown.

I don’t want to brag, but our family does it right.

My parents ship in fish, bagels and accoutrement from Russ & Daughters in New York. They have smoked fish and Jew- food down to perfection.

 On the menu:

  • New York Bagels
  • Regular and veggie cream cheese
  • Smoke salmon (Lox)
  • Whole smoked whitefish
  • Whitefish salad
  • Sable (another smoked fish)
  • Herring in sour cream sauce
  • Tuna salad
  • Egg salad
  • Muenster cheese
  • Tomatoes, cucumber, red onion
  • Sweet noodle kuggle
  • Egg frittata with zucchini, yellow squash and goat cheese

Are you drooling yet?
