Let me start by saying, I’m not a fan of failure.
Two weeks ago, the week leading up to New Years Eve, I knew it would be a light week. With a flight to D.C., rendezvous with family and friends, I hoped to get one strong run in. And I did! A glorious three miles on New Years Eve morning.
After a weekend of fun, friends, family and late nights, I returned home to St. Louis on Sunday at 9 a.m., only to close my other already packed suitcase, for a week long trip to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas for work.
At 2 p.m. that same day, wheels were up and my nose started running.
For the entire week I felt sick, missing each and every run. Missing the Las Vegas strip run photo opp. After 12 hour days on my feet, even had I not been sick, I’m not sure I would have had the ability to run. My legs ached, my hips were tight and my feet, oh my poor feet, were swollen, blistered and barking.
As hard as it was to ditch my runs, I knew it was the right thing.
I landed back in St. Louis, Saturday evening and spent Sunday cleaning the house and preparing for the week. With a good sleep ahead, I’m excited to tackle the week, and get back to the 3,000k challenge.
While I didn’t run, I did eat. Below are a few of my favorite bites.
